Sports for Success Initiative
Many students in rural public schools from low-income families in Machakos have the passion, talent, and determination to excel in sports, but they often train and compete without even the most basic athletic gear. Many run barefoot on rough fields, share worn‑out balls, or practice with improvised equipment. These conditions limit their safety, confidence, and ability to participate fully in athletics, despite their enormous potential.
For families already struggling to meet daily needs, purchasing sports shoes, uniforms, or proper equipment is simply impossible. Yet athletics is more than play. It is a pathway to discipline, teamwork, resilience, and opportunity. Under Kenya’s CBC curriculum, sports are now a core part of learning and future career pathways, meaning students without proper gear are left behind academically as well.
The Mutisya Education Foundation is committed to removing most of these barriers by providing basic sports training equipment, athletic shoes, uniforms, and improving school playgrounds to create safer and more conducive environments for learning and recreation. This gives students the chance to participate in sports safely, discover their talents, and compete with dignity. It also opens doors to scholarships, leadership roles, and future careers in sports and beyond. Most importantly, it tells a child in Machakos: your dreams matter, and your community believes in you.
Your support to the Foundation by donating sports equipment, athletic gear or financial support will go a long way in helping children unlock their hidden talents and ensure that no learner is denied the opportunity to learn, compete, and dream simply because of poverty.
